Helsinki Week: Linnanmäki 3

This is called the Raketti. (Rocket) I tried this once, the first time I went to Linnanmäki and that was enough for me. It's scary when it just shoots up and then it comes down suddenly and hangs in the middle for a while.
As you can see, the legs are left dangling out. It is 60m in height and has a seating capacity for 12. The ride lasts 2.5s.

In Helsinki

The first photo from Helsinki for this blog. This is Helia Campus in Pasila. Helia merged with another school last spring and is now known as Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.
I start school next Monday but had to go down to school today to get some paperwork done. As you can see, it was a nice and sunny day. No jackets needed. :-)

New Beginnings

Hi all, I’m back in Vantaa. It was a wonderful 3 month holiday in Singapore. I had wanted to post some pictures of my holiday but that didn’t take off too well. So hopefully I’m back to posting regulary for this new site.

First, a change in the blog title. Why Helsinki-Vantaa? I live in Vantaa and go to school in Helsinki. The cities are very close to each other. For example my school is 30 minutes away and i spend a considerable amount of time in Helsinki: be it shopping, visiting friends or dining out. Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, and Kauniainen make up the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. View the map.

The apt start for this new site would have to be the Helsinki-Vantaa airport which is situtated in Vantaa. The airport however is internationally just known as Helsinki (HEL). This was taken yesterday on my arrival here.
